Oh, Okay! Kate Serves Up the Royal Version of a Naked Dress in Peekaboo Lace + Velvet at the Royal Variety Performance

Well, HELLO, gorgeous! ?

Kate and Will attended the annual Royal Variety Performance on Monday night, and Kate whipped out quite the stunning look for the occasion.

The Duchess of Cambridge — who can count this as her third time attending the long-running RVP alongside her husband — chose a black lace Alexander McQueen gown, complete with long sheer sleeves, a sweetheart neckline, a scoop back, and (my personal favorite detail, especially this time of year) velvet trim. Playing off the elements of the dress, she added long pearl Erdem danglers, velvet pumps, and a velvet clutch (both velvet pieces most likely by Jimmy Choo). (Thank you for the IDs, What Kate Wore!)

But let’s go back to the gown for a minute. Thanks those see-through sleeves and the dress’ nude lining, the whole thing was just a little bit sultry, right, especially for Kate? While still, of course, being utterly elegant. Such a lovely choice!

I mean. I need her shampoo of choice in my shower yesterday.

Will, I should say, also looked very dapper, though tragically did not repeat his choice of a velvet jacket from the other night! Don’t hold back on us now, Billy. ?

And a little bit more about the Royal Variety Performance, for those who are curious! It’s a televised variety show held annually in the U.K. to raise money for the Royal Variety Charity, which is dedicated to those who have professionally served the entertainment industry and find themselves sick, impoverished, or elderly. The first performance, which was in July 1912, was attended by King George V and Queen Mary. It was seven years before there was a second performance, but after 1921, it became an annual event, with members of the royal family always present.

Kate and Will attended for the first time in 2014 (when she also wore black lace and, adorably, so did her mom!), then again in 2017. Last year, Harry and Meghan were the guests of honor.

What do you think, my queens? Are you into Kate’s look tonight? Thought it was gorgeous? Were hoping for color? Too busy to notice because you can’t stop watching The Crown? Hit me in the comments!

XO, Rose
